"Any man or woman in Ishgard could say the same," his tone is kind but firm, almost sharp, "We, too, were blind and there are many yet that wish to remain so," his voice softens just slightly, though he can tell he's still over-formal for what he's trying to say, struggles with dismissing that front when he needs to, he's so used to wearing it,

"For all that I sincerely hope you will consider me an ally in such matters, I do not imagine your life here will be an easy one. I would give you whatever peace lies within my power to grant, for there is much that will not. At the very least, I would not ask you suffer alone."

He does not believe there is naught but suffering for her in Ishgard, certainly, but he does know that there are people here who'd rather hang her than accept that she's one of them, by marriage or not. It is not as though he's waged a personal war against dragons, though he's killed plenty, but even so, he would still be uncomfortable asked to dwell in dragon territory and face down their kin day after day.
